We're reimagining fairer,
more sustainable travel
Travel that benefits all; our environment,
ecosystems, local partners, and travellers.
Our purpose here at TravelLocal is to connect people to reimagine travel. Now, as we face a global climate emergency, never has reimagining travel been more important. In a changing world, travel needs to change as well and we’re working hard to ensure that travel remains a wonderfully positive experience for the world.
The challenges we face as an industry aren’t easy to overcome and whilst we are continuing to work on many improvements we don’t have all the answers. We’re learning as we go, are optimistic and are taking significant steps on the path towards genuine sustainability.
As signatories of the Glasgow Declaration we’re publicly commited to a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030, and to reach net-zero as soon as possible before 2050.
The heart of our business lies in ensuring that travel is a force for good in the world and that’s why we were one of the signatories of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism. We have set out our sustainable goals for 2023, our plan to reach them, and an overview of what we plan to do in the year ahead.
Our holidays revolve around local people and benefit the local economy - we try to weave this philosophy into all factors of your holiday.
As a travel company, travelling environmentally sustainably is our biggest challenge. Find out how we’re working towards reducing our environmental impact.
We are in continuous discussion with our partners regarding their animal-based activities; we research the experiences included on all tours, and will remove those that don’t adhere to our standards.
Gone are the days where businesses only answer to shareholders. We believe business should be a force for good in the world, mindful of and responsible for its impact on the environment, it's employees and society as a whole.
Sustainability and ethics in travel is complex and there are often no easy solutions, but we are committed to learning and improving in collaboration with our local partners and you, our customers, to offer you the best possible travel experience.
